SINABI ng Consulate General of the Philippines na nagdeklara si New York Governor Kathleen Hochul ng state disaster emergency sa harap ng pagdami ng bilang ng mga kaso ng monkeypox.
Idinagdag ng konsulado na ito’y para mabigyan ng kapangyarihan ang mga otoridad na matugunan ang tumataas na mga kaso ng nasabing sakit sa New York.
Ito’y matapos makapagtala ang Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York ng 1,345 kaso ng monkeypox kung saan karamihan ay nasa New York State.
“In view of this development, the Consulate advises members of the Filipino Community to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from the disease and to contact their health care provider if experiencing any symptoms of monkeypox,” sabi ng embahada.
