IPINATUPAD ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang Alert Level 2 sa Sri Lanka sa harap ng paglala ng sitwasyon sa naturang bansa.
Sa ilalim ng Alert Level 2, hindi magpapadala ng bagong mga Pinoy sa Sri Lanka, at pawang may mga kontrata lamang ang papayangang makaalis ng bansa.
“The DFA, through the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka, is in constant coordination with the Filipino community in Sri Lanka in light of the mass protests in the country due to the ongoing economic crisis,” sabi ng DFA.
Sinabi ng DFA na wala namang napaulat na nadamay na Pinoy sa nangyayaring karahasan sa Sri Lanka.
“The Department, in coordination with the office of the Philippine Honorary Consul General in Colombo, will be providing the needed assistance to Filipinos severely affected by the crisis. The Department would like to emphasize that there are no plans yet to evacuate Filipinos from Sri Lanka at this time,” ayon pa sa DFA.
Pinayuhan din ang mga Pilipino na nasa Sri Lanka na manatili lamang sa kani-kanilang mga bahay at umiwas na lumahok sa mga protesta.
