SOME neighbors of Barbie Hsu’s family have expressed discomfort after learning that the late Taiwanese actress’s ashes are being kept in their apartment unit.
According to Hong Kong news site Dimsum Daily, a neighbor of Dee Hsu—Barbie’s sister—took to social media to complain about the family’s decision to temporarily store the remains at home.
“To seek respect, one must first show respect! The deceased deserves peace,” the netizen wrote. “If you live in a private villa, you can store multiple ashes without concern, but please do not compromise the quality of life for the apartment residents due to your selfishness.”
The netizen claimed that other residents share the same sentiment, though no formal complaint has been reported.
Barbie, best known for her role in the 2001 TV series Meteor Garden, died Sunday, February 2, from pneumonia caused by complications from the flu while on a family trip to Japan during the Chinese New Year period.
Her remains were cremated in Japan and her ashes were flown to Taiwan on Wednesday, February 5.
