MISS Charm Philippines 2025 Cyrille Payumo has apologized to pageant fans after wearing the farewell gown of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray during her own final walk at Miss Universe Philippines-Pampanga.
In a Facebook post, Payumo admitted that her decision “may have unintentionally diminished the significance of Catriona’s monumental achievements” and acknowledged the divided opinions sparked by the moment.
She explained that she was honored to wear a gown by renowned designer Mak Tumang but did not anticipate the backlash.
“To those who may have been hurt or offended, I want to clarify that causing pain was never my intention,” she wrote. “My goal was to honor not only my victory but also the visionary artistry of Mak Tumang.”
Payumo expressed deep regret, taking full responsibility for any misunderstandings. “This experience has been a moment of deep reflection. I sincerely regret any distress caused and appreciate your understanding during this time,” she added.
