SPEAKER Martin Romualdez on Monday underscored the importance of Election Day, reminding Filipinos of their solemn duty to participate in shaping the country’s future through the power of the vote.
“In casting your ballot, you are not just performing a civic duty—you are taking part in a solemn act of democracy,” Romualdez said in a statement.
“Each Filipino today holds the power to influence the future of the Republic.”
Romualdez cast his ballot in his home city of Tacloban, rallying Filipinos to defend democracy by electing leaders committed to genuine service and national progress.
“Every vote is a declaration of hope. It’s a stand for good governance, unity, and a better Philippines,” said Speaker Romualdez, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) President and a lawyer from the University of the Philippines, after he voted at Precinct No. 0480B in V&G Dela Cruz Memorial Elementary School.
“I urge every Filipino to vote with conviction and with the future in mind,” Speaker Romualdez, the 306-member House of Representatives leader, said.
He emphasized that voting is more than a legal responsibility; it is a reflection of personal conscience and a commitment to nation-building.
“Your vote is a declaration of values—a quiet but firm statement of your role in shaping our nation,” he added.
Romualdez urged voters to approach the polls with thoughtfulness and integrity, cautioning against indifference or haste. He stressed that democracy thrives not only in institutions but in the purposeful actions of its citizens.
He also called for peaceful and orderly elections, urging the public to respect the electoral process and protect its sanctity.
“With every vote, we affirm our care for our country and renew our shared responsibility for its direction. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas. Mabuhay ang bawat Pilipinong botante,” he concluded.
