5 members of Duterte family lead in Davao races

THE Duterte family continues to dominate local politics in their bailiwick, with all five family members who ran in the 2025 midterm elections leading in their respective races, based on partial and unofficial results

Former president Rodrigo Duterte, currently detained in The Hague, Netherlands, is leading the mayoral race with 646,275 votes, far ahead of his closest rival, former Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, who has garnered 79,750 votes, according to data from the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) Transparency Media Server as of 12:38 a.m. on May 13.

His son, incumbent mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, is leading the vice mayoral race with 635,224 votes. His opponent, Councilor Bernie Al-Ag, trails with 77,813 votes.

Former president Duterte’s eldest son, Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, is also on track for reelection in the first congressional district of Davao City, having received 199,114 votes. His closest challenger, Deputy House Majority Leader Margarita “Migs” Nograles, has so far received 48,187 votes.

The younger Dutertes are also making strong showings. Omar Duterte, son of Pulong, is leading the race in the second congressional district with 160,388 votes. Meanwhile, Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II is poised to win a seat as councilor in the first district after securing 188,324 votes.
