HINDI na si Manila mayor Isko Moreno kundi si Vice President Leni Robredo na ang susuportahan ng isang paksyon ng Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
Nauna nang inihayag ng grupo ng PFP ang kanilang suporta sa kandidatura ni Moreno ngunit nagpasya na mag-switch kay Robredo matapos magsagawa ng konsultasyon sa mga miyembro sa buong bansa.
Ang paksyon ay kinabibilangan ng national chairman ng partido na si dating commissioner ng National Commission for Muslim Filipinos Ahubakar Mangelan.
“PFP decides to rally behind and commits to fully support VP Leni. This decision is a party decision, has undergone consultations with its members nationwide, and is a unanimous and cohesive decision,” ayon sa PFP sa resolusyon na may petsang Abril 19.
“The party believes in the leadership of VP Leni and her competence and experience to lead the country out of the pandemic and economic crisis into recovery and progress with good, clean and inclusive governance and timely, effective and efficient public service,” dagdag pa nito.
Ginawa ng grupo ang paglipat nito kay Robredo isang buwan matapos ideklara ang kanilang naunang desisyon na sususportahan si Moreno dahil naniniwala umano sila na siya ang makakalaban sa “greatest threat” sa bansa.
“With time running out and with recent developments, the party believes that there is a need for a more formidable team and candidate to beat a common opponent and one who poses the greatest threat to our country and our democracy, Ferdinand Marcos Jr,” dagdag pa nito.
