WORKERS are calling on the government to increase the number of doses of vaccines for essential workers in vaccination centers in the NCR plus bubble, meaning in Metro Manila and its four surrounding provinces.
Many of these essential workers who are now allowed to be vaccinated end up not being inoculated at all despite arriving and queued early at vaccination venues because vaccines ran out.
Sa NCR plus bubble, average na 2,000 hanggang 2,500 lamang na vaccines ang ibinababa sa mga select vaccination centers.
Now that the joint campaign of private organizations and government health experts were able to convince workers to get vaccinated, the Health department and the inter-agency task force should “strike while the iron is hot” by increasing the number of vaccines in vaccination centers and inoculate walk-in and scheduled workers.
Napakarami na ang mga manggagawang gusto nang magpabakuna ngunit kokonti ang sinusuplay ng IATF at DOH.
It is also economically expedient for essential workers to be vaccinated on the day they line up because they are on a “no work, no pay” basis. It would be difficult for workers to leave work or not to report for work again should they missed the opportunity of getting vaccinated.
There is a need to vaccinate all workers as government plans to further relax quarantine restrictions and open more industries in its bid to avert further damage to the economy.
