While Sara burns, Bong Go waits

YOU see what Bong Go did yesterday? He agreed to the idea of the Senate convening as an impeachment court—the only Duterte-aligned senator to do so. The rest wanted the trial to be dismissed.

You also heard what he said right after winning the election as the top senator with 26 million votes, when asked about the impeachment of Sara: “Focus po muna tayo sa trabaho bilang senador.” Which are code words for “no comment,” “I wanna play it safe,” and “I wanna keep my cards close to my chest.”

Maybe you’ve noticed he has never visited Digong yet at The Hague—not even once. Nauna pa si Imee bumisita. Of course, si Robin ginawa nang Cubao din yung The Hague, complete with a photo-op with Digong’s cardboard cutout.

This all points to a possible run for the presidency. And why not? In order to win the presidency, there are several key elements.

A single-minded advocacy that can be tied to the candidate, a solid base of voters you can build from, and a regional bailiwick that can deliver you a solid block of voters.

He has the advocacy. We might hate him for it, but he was able to smartly usurp the Malasakit Centers as his brainchild.

He already has a base of 26 million voters who are not all DDS but are in fact a wide spectrum of voters. He has Mindanao as his bailiwick.

Yes he is still a full-on DDS but expect him to become less and less of the fanatical kind. He might start courting Loyalists and even Pinks in the next three years.

Never underestimate this guy. He is shrewd AF. We might just see a DDS civil war in 2027 since he can lay a claim for being the DDS standard bearer instead of Sara especially if Sara emerges as “damaged goods” after the impeachment trial. Interesting days ahead. Team Kasamaan versus Team Kadiliman versus Team Kasakiman.

Meantime Pinks should take a cue from Bong Go.

Focus po muna tayo sa trabaho. Hayaan na natin sila magpuksaan while we spread our advocacy for good governance, transparency, anti-corruption, and accountability while having 🍿🍿🍿on the side.
