Some politicians think Manilans, Sen. Marcos are gullible

IN MANILA, it’s just too funny how downright stupid some politicians can really be.

Just recently, I was sent a screenshot of a social media post wherein one of my past columns was mentioned as its basis.

The column referred to was the one where I tackled the resolution authored by Congressman Rolan Valeriano. Supported by the five other Manila City Congressmen, namely Ernix Dionisio (District 1); Joel Chua (3rd district); Edward Maceda (4th district); Irwin Tieng (fifth district) and Bienvenido Abante (6th district) which seeks to conduct an inquiry, in aid of legislation, into the use of public funds for the election campaign and vote-buying of certain candidates for various positions in the city during the recently-concluded May 2022 elections.

It also aims to pinpoint liability on who implemented the distribution of the funds, for allowing politicians to be there and even deliver speeches while the recipients served as audience and in an effort to prevent the same from ever happening again in future campaign periods.

The funds or source of funds are not the issue here, but the politicians who used the occasion of the public funds’ distribution for politics and those who allowed it.

Surprisingly, the post said the resolution urges all lawmakers in the country “na suriin at kwestyunin ang ginawang pagtulong ni Senador Imee sa lungsod ng Maynila…” It added that my column confirmed that the five other Congressmen “ay sumang-ayon at pumirma sa pagsampa ng …resolution na nagaakusa kay Senadora Imee na ginamit nito ang pondo ng pumpubliko (sic) para sa vote buying sa nagdaang eleksyon.”

Oh my God!!! These people are lying through their teeth and are not even good at it!! Why? Because all it takes is a little research and one would easily know the truth.

In the first place, the very resolution itself which became the basis of my column made no mention whatsoever of Senator Imee. This being the case, nowhere in my column will anyone find the name of Senator Imee, of course! I stuck to the contents of Valeriano’s resolution and will not be including things or names that aren’t there.

I was also branded in the said FB post as a “kilalang demolition writer” for CA Berrnie. This made me shudder and laugh, because I have known City Ad (CA for brevity) Bernie Ang for the longest time and I am certain that those who are within his circle would know that he is so capable of writing for himself and is in fact a way much better writer than I am.

Though he may be of Chinese-Filipino descent, CA Bernie has a very good command of both the English and Filipino languages and he is looked up to by his colleagues as the most intelligent alderman that the Manila City Council ever had.

As a third district Manila City Councilor for a total of six terms or 18 years, he was the author of many meaningful ordinances that include the creation of the then City College of Manila (now Universidad de Manila). He also authored the Revenue Code of Manila during the term of then Mayor Fred Lim, who also entrusted him with the task of overseeing the code’s implementation, being its author.

Then and until now, CA Bernie had been the ‘go-to person’ of those seeking advice on any problem under the sun, including legal matters that even some lawyers in fact do consult him. CA Bernie does not need a writer to ‘demolish’ anyone and in the case at hand, there is no need to demolish those behind the post since they are self-destructing with all their moronic ideas.

They apparently think very little of Manilans, feeding them lies that not even kids would believe. More importantly, they are insulting the intelligence of Senator Imee whom they obviously see as someone who is gullible and who would believe everything she’s fed without the benefit of verification.

By dragging the name of Senator Imee into their issue, these dimwits think that the Congressmen, CA Ang and myself will be at the crosshairs of the good Senator who happens to be a sister of the sitting President. Wahahhh!!!

By the way, the issue brings to mind a similar thing that happened during the most recent campaign period.

The same politicians gunning for posts in the city attacked the sitting administration regarding the Divisoria Mall sale and this elicited comments where the name of the late mayor Mel Lopez had to be mentioned out of necessity.

Lo and behold!! The camp of the said politicians made it appear that those from the city administration hit “two” late mayors, dragging Mayor Fred Lim into the picture, when there was no mention of Lim’s name at any point on the part of the sitting city officials.
Obviously, the aim was to draw the ire of Lim supporters and get them to join the ranks of those against the sitting officials.

It did not work then, it won’t work now. These people must be mentally bankrupt.

For those interested, may I invite you to visit the column they actually cited and find out for yourself if they are telling the truth or peddling lies—
