THE family of former President Rodrigo Duterte said they have accepted “with peaceful hearts” the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber to deny his bid for interim release.
The brief statement was posted on social media by Davao City Rep. Omar Duterte, the former president’s grandson, shortly after the Appeals Chamber upheld the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I ruling that rejected Duterte’s request to be freed from the Scheveningen Prison in The Hague.
“We will continue to work with the defense team on the case and will keep supporting former President Rodrigo Duterte with our daily conversations,” the family said. “We thank everyone who prayed with us today.”
