TERESA “Beth” Fernandez, sister of the late actor Rudy Fernandez, died in a house fire in Quezon City on August 6. She was 78.
The blaze broke out at the family’s home on Scout Rallos Street, Brgy. Sacred Heart, leaving Fernandez, who was bedridden, trapped in her room. Her caregiver managed to escape.
Her daughter, Joanna Fernandez Velayo, confirmed her passing in a Facebook post. “Today, my mother Teresa ‘Beth’ Fernandez (sister of Rudy Fernandez) passed away in a tragic fire at our home… Nasunog po ang buong bahay at dahil bedridden si Mama, hindi na po siya nasagip,” she said, adding that all their belongings were lost.
Actor Rap Fernandez, son of Rudy, also announced the news. “Yesterday my father’s sister Beth Fernandez died tragically in a house fire. Rest in peace, Tita Beth,” he wrote.
Authorities have yet to release further details on the cause of the fire.
