PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. visited a Grade 1 classroom at the Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School (EDSES) in Malate, Manila on Monday, June 16, where he joined a reading activity with students as part of the opening of School Year 2025–2026.
Joined by Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Marcos sat in on a reading session where he used flashcards to promote literacy and encouraged active participation from the students.
The President also took questions from the pupils to help foster an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.
After the classroom visit, Marcos and Angara toured other areas of the school and met with administrators to discuss campus safety.
Marcos said measures are being taken to ensure the safety of students and school personnel, including the installation of CCTV cameras around the school premises.
The President also urged school officials to inform the Department of Education of any additional needs to help improve learning conditions across campuses.
