MMDA: Metro Manila spared from severe floods

NO major flooding incidents were reported in Metro Manila despite heavy rains brought by Super Typhoon Uwan, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Monday.

In a bulletin, the agency said its Emergency Operations Center did not receive reports of widespread floodwaters in the capital region. Only localized flooding was monitored in some low-lying areas, which remained manageable as of Monday morning.

The MMDA also warned the public against circulating old videos of flooded roads on social media, saying these posts create unnecessary panic and confusion. The agency urged the public to verify dates and check official sources for accurate information.

“It is important to double-check the date and time of posts and confirm through trusted news outlets or official pages of government agencies,” the MMDA said.

Minor flooding was observed in Navotas City, particularly along the C4 M. Naval intersection where water reached gutter level but remained passable to all vehicles.

Floodwaters along M. Naval heading to Navotas City Hall were knee-deep and no longer passable to smaller vehicles.

The MMDA also suspended the expanded number coding scheme on Monday to ease travel and assist motorists affected by weather disruptions.
