A 77-year-old woman was tricked, assaulted, and robbed by a group of thieves in Tondo, Manila, authorities said Friday.
According to reports, the victim was on her way home from the market when two men approached her, introduced themselves as brothers, and lured her into a conversation.
They later convinced her to ride with them, promising to help her find a new house.
Once inside the vehicle, a third suspect, a woman, was already waiting.
The victim said she grew suspicious but was unable to escape. One of the men allegedly punched her and covered her eyes before robbing her of cash and jewelry worth P100,000.
The suspects later dropped her off in Baseco and gave her P200 for fare.
Police said that similar scams have been reported in the area.
