2 security guards killed by colleague on Christmas Eve

TWO security guards were shot dead by a fellow guard inside a car dealership along Commonwealth Avenue in North Fairview, Quezon City on Wednesday, December 24, police said.

Based on the initial investigation of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the victims were asleep inside the establishment when the suspect opened fire on them.

Police said that prior to the shooting, the suspect reportedly told a sales agent that he was planning to kill someone.

“So accordingly, siya ‘yung binabanggit niya na galit na galit na nagsabi na meron siyang papatayin. Yun nga lang wala siyang idea kung sino,” said Police Maj. Jennifer Gannaban, QCPD spokesperson.

When police arrived at the scene, the two security guards were already lifeless.

The incident was reported at around 2 p.m., although investigators believe the shooting occurred nearly an hour earlier.

The QCPD clarified that the victims were on duty at the time of the incident.

Authorities are also looking into the possibility that a drinking session or gathering took place inside the dealership, after responding officers reportedly smelled alcohol at the scene.

On Thursday, December 25, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed that a suspect was arrested in Tondo.

Based on police interrogation, the suspect claimed he committed the crime due to alleged bullying by the victims.
