‘Zaldy Co International Airport’: Barzaga wants protection for Co

DASMARIÑAS Rep. Kiko Barzaga said former party-list representative Zaldy Co may need enhanced security if he decides to return to the Philippines, warning that he could face risks similar to those encountered by the late Senator Ninoy Aquino.

Barzaga made the remark in response to calls for Co to come home and affirm his claims of government corruption.

“Security must be increased. We don’t want to end up with a ‘Zaldy Co International Airport’ if Marcos Jr. has plans,” Barzaga said.

He invoked the assassination of Aquino in 1983, noting that political history under the Marcos regime “should not be repeated.”

The Manila International Airport was renamed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in 1987 through Republic Act No. 6639 to honor the slain opposition leader.
