Yulo clinches vault gold at World Championships in Jakarta

CARLOS Edriel Yulo secured the gold medal in the men’s vault at the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Saturday.

The Olympic double gold medalist topped the final with an average score of 14.866 points, edging out Artur Davtyan of Armenia (14.833) and Nazar Chepurnyi of Ukraine (14.483).

Yulo entered the medal round as the favorite after leading the qualifiers with 14.750 points.

On Friday, he also clinched a bronze medal in the men’s floor exercise.

This latest victory boosts Yulo’s World Championships tally to three gold medals, having ruled the vault in 2021 and the floor exercise in 2019.

The Filipino star continues to build on his already remarkable career — highlighted by a historic run at the Paris Olympics, where he became the first athlete from the Philippines to win multiple gold medals.
