YOUNG members of the House of Representatives expressed hopes that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. would make a strong position on job creation, climate action and food security as he is about to address the nation on Monday.
Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun underscored the critical need for continued economic recovery and growth, focusing on job creation and support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“I anticipate the President discussing strategies to continue with the country’s economic growth, create jobs, and foster a conducive environment for businesses and entrepreneurs. Supporting MSMEs is vital for our economy,” he said.
Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong stressed the importance of infrastructure development for regional growth, particularly in enhancing connectivity and transportation networks.
“I am keen to hear the President’s plans for advancing our infrastructure projects, especially those that will benefit the provinces. Strengthening our connectivity and transportation networks is essential for regional development,” the Mindanao legislator said.
Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Jil Bongalon emphasized the need for climate action and disaster resilience, highlighting the importance of concrete steps to combat climate change.
“It is crucial for the President to outline concrete steps to combat climate change and strengthen disaster resilience,” Bongalon said.
“Our communities are vulnerable, and we need robust measures to protect our people and environment.”
La Union Rep. Paolo Ortega V noted the importance of agricultural development and food security, advocating for support for farmers.
“Supporting our farmers through subsidies, modern farming techniques, and improved market access is crucial. Ensuring food security and sustainability must be a priority,” Ortega said.
1-Rider Partylist Rep. Rodge Gutierrez emphasized the need for good governance and anti-corruption measures, promoting transparency and accountability in government operations.
“I look forward to the President’s initiatives to promote good governance, transparency, and accountability. Combating corruption at all levels of government is essential for our nation’s progress,” Gutierrez said.
Marcos will deliver his third State of the Nation Address at 4 p.m. Monday at the Batasang Pambansa.
