VP Sara silent on impeachment complaint vs PBBM

VICE President Sara Duterte declined to give a detailed reaction to the impeachment complaint filed against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., saying she would wait in the coming days before commenting further.

“Sa ngayon, wala pa. Antayin natin ang mga susunod na mga araw kung meron akong reaction,” Duterte said when asked for comment during an interview in The Hague, Netherlands.

The impeachment complaint was filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus and endorsed by Pusong Pinoy party-list Rep. Jernie Nisay. It was formally submitted to the Office of the House Secretary General and cites alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, and betrayal of public trust.

Asked about reports that an impeachment case is also being prepared against her, Duterte said she was not surprised.

“As expected, dahil sila din naman na ang nagsasabi lagi na magfa-file sila ng impeachment complaint. So, alam na natin iyan na mangyayari iyon,” she said.

She added that previous impeachment efforts against her were allegedly used by some lawmakers as fundraising activities.

“As expected as well, magiging katulad lang din ‘yan nung nakaraan na ginagawang fundraising ng mga members of the House of Representatives ‘yung pagpirma nila sa impeachment. It’s all about the money diyan,” Duterte said.
