Vlogger nabbed for ‘headshot’ post on President Marcos

A VLOGGER from Pagadian City was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) for allegedly inciting to sedition under Article 142 of the Revised Penal Code.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the NBI said the arrest stemmed from a viral social media post made by the suspect, identified as “Mike Romero,” which showed a photo of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. taken at Bogo City Hall, captioned with the word “Headshot.”

Authorities said the post was considered malicious and threatening, prompting the agency to launch an operation to locate the vlogger. NBI-CCD agents later tracked him down in Pagadian City.

In an interview, Romero said he initially thought the agents who came for him were not real. He also claimed that the photo in question was not originally his.

“Actually, ‘di talaga ako naniwala na totoo ‘yong NBI. Kasi sa amin kasi sa Bisaya, hindi naiintindihan ‘yong word na ‘yon. Tapos nakita naman talaga sa mga post na hindi ko naman talaga sariling post ‘yong mga picture,” he said.

The suspect has since been transferred to the NBI-CCD office in Pasay City for standard booking and documentation procedures.
