THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has begun hiring newly licensed civil engineers as part of its push to rebuild public trust and strengthen its workforce.
One of the new hires is civil engineer Dave Rusty Recososa — son of jeepney driver Edwin Recososa, who recently went viral for giving passengers free rides after learning his son passed the Civil Engineering Licensure Exam.
In a news release Friday, the DPWH said Secretary Vince Dizon personally met Dave during his visit to Davao City with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday. Dizon offered him a position at the DPWH Davao Regional Office and urged him to join the agency’s ongoing transformation.
“It’s good that you’re joining because we have a lot to do next year. We need fresh blood,” Dizon told him, as Dave stood beside his father.
Recososa is among those recruited to help fill roughly 2,000 vacancies across the DPWH nationwide. The agency also commended Edwin for his years of hard work as a jeepney driver to support his son’s education.
President Marcos earlier directed the DPWH to bring in new civil engineering graduates to help implement the country’s infrastructure programs. (PNA)
