Vice Ganda apologizes to MTRCB after teacher’s remark on live TV

TV host-comediam Vice Ganda has apologized to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) after a contestant on It’s Showtime blurted out a vulgar word during a live segment on October 4.

The incident happened during the “Laro Laro Pick” game, which featured public school teachers as contestants in celebration of World Teachers’ Day. While chatting with Vice, one teacher described the floods near her school and said she would go to work wearing “nakapekp*k shorts.”

Vice immediately interrupted the contestant and said, “Ay, Ma’am sorry po, hindi po natin puwedeng banggitin ’yon, sorry po!” The teacher quickly apologized, clarifying, “Sorry po, naka-maikli. ’Yan!

The comedian and co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario then issued apologies to the viewers and the MTRCB.

“Miss Lala, sorry po. Sorry sa MTRCB. Sa lahat po ng mga kumakain, sa lahat ng mga nanonood, sorry po, nabigla lang. Masyado lang po kami naging komportable sa isa’t isa,” Vice said.

“Miss Lala” referred to MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio, who oversees the review and classification of television and film content.

It’s Showtime was previously suspended by the MTRCB in 2023 following a controversy involving Vice and Ion Perez, who were seen sharing icing suggestively during the show’s “Isip Bata” segment.
