THE number of jobless Filipinos went down to 2.11 million in May this year from 2.17 million in May 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (NEDA) said on Monday.
Data released by the PSA showed that the unemployment rate in May was at 4.1 percent, down from the 4.3 percent in the same month last year.
The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) was at 64.8 percent, or about 50.97 million Filipinos aged 15 years old and over who were in the labor force.
The country’s employment rate rose 95.9 percent from May 2023’s 95.7 percent.
In terms of magnitude, the number of employed Filipinos increased to 48.87 million from 48.26 million in May last year.
