COMEDIAN and television host Tuesday Vargas publicly expressed support for Senator Risa Hontiveros amid alleged misinformation and online attacks targeting the opposition lawmaker.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Vargas shared a statement of solidarity with the senator. “Tumitindig laban sa maling impormasyon at paninira. Mahal ka namin, Senator Risa Hontiveros,” she wrote.
Her message came after Akbayan Partylist, with which Hontiveros is affiliated, released a similar statement defending the senator from what it described as “malicious accusations” meant to tarnish her reputation.
“Alam ng taumbayan na si Senator Risa ang ka-akbay nila sa laban para sa pagkakapantay-pantay, pananagutan, at mabuting pamamahala,” Akbayan said. It also cited Hontiveros’ past efforts in exposing former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, the “Pastillas” immigration scam, and illegal POGO hubs.
The group further emphasized the senator’s clean record, saying, “Malinaw ang track record ni Senator Risa at ng Akbayan—walang bahid ng korapsyon.”
