FORMER President and convicted felon Donald Trump has joined TikTok, the social media platform that he tried to ban during his presidency on national security grounds.
Trump easily attracted more than three million followers roughly in a day.
He launched his account with a short video Saturday night (US time) and immediately gathered more than 56 million views.
His video showed the former president greeting fans at an Ultimate Fighting Championships fight in Newark, New Jersey.
Many believed that by joining TikTok, Trump could help him reach younger voters in his third bid for the White House.
He is in a close race with Democratic incumbent Joe Biden ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election.
It can be recalled that Trump wanted the Chinese-made TikTok banned in 2020 but was blocked by the courts.
Last March, he said the platform was a national security threat but may hurt some young people and only strengthen Facebook, which he has strongly criticized.
