ACT Teachers party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio on Wednesday questioned the 16-country trip Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte plans to take, asking if the lawmaker was “a Miss Universe on tour.”
In an ambush interview, Tinio said elected officials are expected to be present in committee hearings and plenary sessions to represent their constituents, not abroad.
“Ano ba siya, kinatawan ng distrito o Miss Universe?,” Tinio said.
Tinio said the job of a congressman is to represent his district.
“The people should expect a higher standard of service from their elected representatives.”
Lastly, the Makabayan solon questioned the timing of Duterte’s travel authority request, noting that it was filed just days after Duterte refused to appear before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
