THE price of tawilis in some parts of Cavite has plunged —from P250 per kilo to as low as P100—following reports that missing sabungeros may have been dumped in Taal Lake.
Pamalakaya chair Fernando Hicap called it an “all-time low,” citing the impact of public fear on local fishers’ livelihood despite BFAR’s assurance that fish from the lake remains safe to eat.
The group urged the government to buy fish directly from affected communities and encourage consumers to continue supporting local fishermen.
