TASK Force El Niño is planning to initiate cloud seeding operations in mountainous regions to mitigate the severe drought.
In a briefing, TF El Niño spokesperson and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Assistant Secretary Joey Villarama suggested exploring the possibility of conducting targeted cloud seeding operations, focusing on mountain peaks.
“This will optimize water downstream and replenish vital surface water sources, including aquifers,” Villarama said.
The official hoped that said measures would help mitigate the impact of El Niño by the latter part of May. (GP)
