SWS: Public satisfaction rating of Marcos, Sara declines

SATISFACTION with the performance of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Vice President Sara Duterte, and other top officials dropped in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey, conducted from Dec. 12 to 18, revealed that 51 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with Marcos’ performance, while 32 percent were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of +19 (“moderate”), his lowest since taking office.

Compared to September, his rating dropped by 13 points, with declines noted across most regions, including a steep 34-point drop in Mindanao.

Vice President Duterte’s net satisfaction also fell to +21 (“moderate”), down six points from September. Satisfaction dropped in most areas except the Visayas, where her rating improved to +32 (“good”).

Senate President Francis Escudero’s net satisfaction declined by five points to +42 (“good”), while Speaker Martin Romualdez’s rating fell 11 points to +9 (“neutral”), his lowest to date. Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo’s rating also dropped by nine points to +14 (“moderate”).

The SWS survey involved 2,160 adults nationwide, with a margin of error of ±2% for national results. A similar Pulse Asia survey confirmed declining approval and trust ratings for Marcos, Duterte, and other officials during the same period.
