THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) cautioned the public against false Facebook posts claiming that beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) will receive a “Christmas bonus.”
DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the circulating announcement is fabricated and likely part of a scheme designed to harvest personal information from unsuspecting beneficiaries.
“Ang DSWD po ay may nakuhang mga report tungkol sa mga naglalabasan na social media posts na may ipapamahagi raw na Christmas bonus sa mga benepisyaryo ng 4Ps. Ito po ay hindi totoo,” Dumlao said in a statement.
She added that the posts may serve as a tool for online fraud. “Maaaring isang mekanismo ng mga online scammer para makuha ang mga pribadong impormasyon ng ating mga beneficiaries,” she said.
The DSWD urged program members not to click unknown links or share misleading content to avoid confusion and potential scams.
“Nais po naming ipaalala na huwag n’yo pong ibibigay ang inyong mga pribadong impormasyon sa mga ganitong klaseng social media post. Lahat po ng mga impormasyon na manggagaling sa DSWD ay magmumula lamang sa inyong mga municipal at city links, at pati na rin sa official social media page ng 4Ps at ng DSWD,” the agency said.
