CONTRACTOR Cezarah Rowena “Sarah” Discaya and other individuals implicated in the “ghost” flood control project in Davao Occidental are expected to face arrest this week over alleged irregularities, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Tuesday.

Marcos said the arrest warrant for Discaya would likely be issued this week.

“Inaasahan na din nating lalabas ang warrant of arrest ni Sarah Discaya itong linggong ito at hindi na rin magtatagal ang pag aresto sa kanya (We also expect the warrant of arrest for Sarah Discaya to be issued this week, and her arrest is likewise not expected to take long),” Marcos said in a video message Tuesday.

Marcos said at least eight personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways have reportedly indicated their intention to surrender to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) pending the issuance of arrest warrants.

He did not disclose their names.

He, nevertheless, said the government would continue to pursue accountability to protect public interest and uphold the rule of law.

“Magpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon. Magpapatuloy ang pagpapanagot. At sisiguraduhin ng pamahalaan na ang pera ng bayan ay maibabalik sa taumbayan (The investigation will continue. Accountability will continue. And the government will ensure that the people’s money is returned to the people),” Marcos said.

The Philippine National Police has deployed intelligence and tracker teams to locate Discaya and others implicated in the project.
