Sara ready for trial, preps for ‘bloodbath’

WITH the midterm elections concluded, Vice President Sara Duterte said she is ready for a “bloodbath” as her impeachment trial nears while planning international rallies to support her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, currently detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

Speaking in Davao City after a Thanksgiving Mass, Duterte confirmed her legal team is in “full throttle” preparation, even though she would have preferred the Senate not to proceed.

“But I told them I want a trial because I want a bloodbath,” she said.

The Senate will try her for bribery, graft, and constitutional violations over her alleged misuse of PHP612 million in confidential funds while serving as Vice President and Education Secretary.

The trial is set to begin on July 30, with the articles of impeachment to be presented on June 2.

Duterte expressed no expectations about the verdict but said she has accepted any outcome. Meanwhile, she plans to lead pro-Duterte rallies abroad, including a May 31 protest outside the ICC.

She also faces separate charges of inciting sedition over a November statement implying assassination plans against top Philippine officials if an alleged plot to kill her succeeded.
