Sandiganbayan defers arraignment of Bong Revilla’s malversation case

THE Sandiganbayan on Friday postponed the arraignment of former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. in connection with his malversation case over an alleged ghost flood control project in Bulacan.

The Third Division of the anti-graft court deferred the proceedings due to several pending motions filed in the case.

Revilla earlier sought urgent permission to be detained at the PNP custodial facility in Camp Crame, citing security concerns.

The court said it will first assess the conditions at the Payatas jail facility, where Revilla and four of his co-accused are currently detained.

Presided over by Associate Justice Karl Miranda, the division directed prosecutors to submit their comments on the omnibus motions filed by Revilla, Juat, and Mendoza on or before Jan. 28.

The court also announced plans to inspect Camp Karingal, where two of Revilla’s female co-accused are being held.
