THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday confirmed that it has begun closely monitoring the travel movements of 33 individuals, including House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, and Sen. Joel Villanueva.
The four top officials were among those implicated in alleged irregularities involving questionable budget insertions that reportedly led to ghost or substandard public infrastructure projects.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the agency received the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) upon the request of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
The ICI earlier submitted an “urgent request” to the DOJ seeking the issuance of an ILBO against the 33 personalities. These include former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., and former Senator and now Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay.
According to the ICI, its ongoing probe into ghost or substandard projects “puts the subjects in a relevant position that makes them inevitable personalities during the fact-finding process.”
