Romualdez calls for unity, compassionate leadership in Eid al-Adha message

HOUSE Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Friday called on public officials and citizens alike to embrace the values of peace, unity, and inclusive service, grounded in sincerity and compassion.

In his Eid al-Adha message, Romualdez said the sacred Islamic celebration is a powerful reminder of selflessness, obedience to a higher calling, and the strength found in unity—values that transcend religion and culture.

“These are principles that resonate not only within Islam but across all faiths. They bind us together as a people, regardless of belief or background,” he said.

Eid al-Adha honors the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s will. It is observed with prayers, feasts, and the sharing of blessings with loved ones and the less fortunate.

Romualdez said the occasion carries a timeless message: sacrifice rooted in trust and devotion. “It reminds us in government and society to lead with integrity, uphold justice, and act in the best interest of the people,” he said.

He reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to supporting policies that respect diversity and protect religious freedom.

“May this sacred day inspire us to build a more compassionate and inclusive nation,” Romualdez added.
