Romualdez backs Marcos’ anti-drug fight, vows House support

SPEAKER Martin Romualdez on Tuesday expressed the full support of the House of Representatives for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s intensified anti-drug campaign, following the seizure of nearly P8.9 billion worth of suspected shabu off northern Philippine waters.

Romualdez lauded the President’s prompt order to destroy the illegal drugs using thermal decomposition technology at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) headquarters, saying it demonstrates transparency and firm leadership.

“The President’s approach rejects violence and upholds the rule of law. It shows this administration is serious about dismantling drug syndicates while restoring public trust,” Romualdez said.

The illegal drugs were intercepted in separate coastal areas in Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Cagayan, with local fishermen playing a key role in the discovery.

Romualdez said the incident highlights the importance of public cooperation in national security efforts.

He also emphasized that the House is ready to support the campaign through legislation focused on maritime interdiction, border control, and rehabilitation programs.

“This is not just a criminal justice issue—it’s a public health and national security concern,” Romualdez said.

“With coordinated efforts, we can build a safer future for all Filipinos.”
