BICOL Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon hit back at comedienne Pokwang following her pointed remarks against a politician whom she accused of exploiting a viral road rage incident involving her brother.
In a post on X on Wednesday, December 17, Ridon openly identified himself as the lawmaker alluded to in Pokwang’s video statement released a day earlier, saying there was no mistaking who she was referring to.
“There is no one else Ms. Subong could be alluding to except me, as I have been consistently speaking on road abuse issues, including the e-bike ban and the present road rage incident. I therefore respond to her remarks directly and squarely,” Ridon said.
Pokwang earlier warned the unnamed lawmaker of possible cyberbullying and cyberlibel charges, claiming he had shared photos of her entire family online following the incident in which her brother allegedly assaulted a cart-pushing elderly man.
Ridon, however, flatly denied the accusation, insisting that Pokwang’s claims were baseless and misleading.
“What were posted were photographs of Carlo Subong—the individual involved in the incident—whose actions constitute grave threats, physical injuries, and child abuse against Crispin Villamor and his daughter,” he said.
“The public has every right to know the identity of a person who commits crimes against ordinary Filipinos,” the congressman added.
Ridon said he was unfazed by Pokwang’s legal threats, stressing that no crime was committed on his part. “There can be no cyberlibel or cyberbullying where statements are factual and based on publicly available information,” he said.
He further argued that the materials he cited were already in the public domain. “The photographs of Mr. Subong are publicly accessible. The LTO Show Cause Order is a public document. Mr. Subong’s actions were committed in full public view,” Ridon said.
Ridon maintained that neither Pokwang nor her brother were the victims in the controversy. “Hindi kayo ang biktima dito. Ang biktima dito ay si Crispin at ang kanyang anak. Ang biktima dito ay ang mga ordinaryong Pilipinong inaabuso ng mga katulad ni Carlo Subong,” he said.
