SENATOR Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Saturday pushed back against allegations dragging his name into recent political controversies, denouncing what he described as a “fabricated and unbelievable narrative” meant to divert public attention from the real issues.
In a strongly worded statement, Revilla said he was being targeted as a convenient “scapegoat” amid the surge of corruption exposés and high-profile investigations now gripping the national government.
“Ang naratibo na pilit nilang ikinakasa laban sa akin ay hindi lamang kasinungalingan, ito’y sadyang ‘di kapani-paniwala,” Revilla said. “Ginagamit ang aking pangalan para malihis sa katotohanan—ngunit ang katotohanan, kailanman ay hindi matatakpan.”
The senator did not specify which individuals or groups he was referring to, but his remarks come at a time when several lawmakers, contractors, and government officials are facing probes over alleged irregularities in infrastructure projects and other public spending anomalies.
Revilla, who previously faced plunder charges in connection with the pork barrel scam but was acquitted in 2018, said he is no stranger to political attacks and public scrutiny.
“I have lived my life facing all challenges thrown my way. Hindi ako tumakbo, hindi ako nagtago. Hindi ako umurong noon, hindi ako uurong ngayon,” he said, asserting that he intends to meet the accusations “with courage and conviction.”
The senator added that the public should remain vigilant amid what he called attempts to “muddle the truth.”
Revilla’s statement is the latest in a string of reactions from public officials distancing themselves from swirling claims linked to the widening corruption investigations. However, he emphasized that he has not received any formal notice implicating him in any ongoing case.
