MOTORISTS can now report online scams and erring drivers through a quick response SMS hotline.
The Aksyon on the Spot (Action on the Spot) hotline caters to complaints about phishing scams, particularly those regarding fake traffic violations as well as abusive and erring motorists on the roads, Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said.
“Mula sa mga simpleng mga paglabag sa batas trapiko hanggang sa road rage at maging ang paggamit ng ‘wang-wang’ na mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ngayon,” Mendoza said in a statement.
Motorists can utilize the hotline by forwarding suspected phishing scams or sending an SMS complaint about erring motorists to 0929 292 0865.
Aksyon on the Spot stickers carrying a QR code will be distributed to motorists, especially to those who renew their vehicle registration, Mendoza said.
“We encourage the public to inform us of any abusive behaviors on the road at kami na po ang bahala sa aksyon,” Mendoza said.
He assured the public that any information gathered through the hotline would be confidential and protected under the Data Privacy law. (PNA)
