A FILIPINA tourist was injured when struck by a train while posing for a photo near the tracks at Shifen Station in New Taipei City, Taiwan, on Monday.
CCTV footage revealed that the woman, identified only as Michelle, 36, was hit by the train as she spread her arms for a pose. She sustained injuries to her head, chest, and arms and was rushed to Keelung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Reports said Michelle could face penalties for trespassing on the tracks, with fines ranging from NT$10,000 (around PHP17,854) to NT$50,000 (around PHP89,270).
Cheloy Garafil, chairperson of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), said Michelle is stable and conscious but will require surgery.
