PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will fly to the Vatican to attend the funeral of Pope Francis, Malacañang confirmed Wednesday.
Palace Press Officer Atty. Clair Castro said final travel arrangements are still being coordinated, but details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
“The President and the First Lady will attend the funeral of the Pope,” Castro said.
Pope Francis, who served as the head of the Catholic Church for 12 years, will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 26, at the Basilica of St. Mary Major.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Square, to be led by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the Dean of the College of Cardinals.
