Pay hike for Calabarzon domestic workers OKd

THE Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) IV-A in Calabarzon has approved a salary increase for domestic workers, ranging from P750 to P1,750.

The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) announced on Wednesday that the wage board approved the measure on February 10, setting the new minimum wage at PHP6,750.

According to Wage Order No. RB-IVA-DW-05, domestic workers in cities and first-class municipalities will receive a PHP750 increase, while those in other municipalities will get a PHP1,750 boost. The adjustment applies to all live-in and live-out domestic workers, including house helpers, nannies, cooks, gardeners, and laundry personnel, among others.

However, the wage increase does not cover service providers, family drivers, or individuals who perform work occasionally and not as a regular occupation.

The new wage order aims to provide fair compensation for domestic workers, acknowledging their contributions to households and communities. With rising living costs, this adjustment is expected to ease financial burdens and improve their quality of life.

The wage increase will take effect on March 7, ensuring that domestic workers across Calabarzon receive better pay for their services.
