IPINAG-UTOS ng Supreme Court (SC) ang pagsuspinde kay Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 108 Judge Albert Cansino at Officer-in-Charge and Acting Clerk of Court na si Mariejoy Lagman dahil sa diumano’y pagtanggap ng bribe.
Ayon sa kalatas, tumanggap diumano ang dalawa ng P6 milyon mula sa isang litigant kapalit ng paborable desisyon hinggil sa isang civil case.
Inaresto ang dalawa matapos ang isang entrapment operation na isinagawa ng National Bureau of Investigation.
Nakuha mula sa dalawa ang limang marked P1,000 bills at P6 milyon na boodle money.
Ikinasa ang entrapment operation matapos makatanggap ng complaint ang Judicial Integrity Board hinggil sa “bayaran”.
Dahil dito, 90 araw na suspensyon ang ipinataw ng Korte Suprema laban sa hukom at clerk of court habang isinasagawa ang imbestigasyon.
“To ensure an unhampered formal investigation, the court placed Judge Cansino and OIC-Acting BCC Lagman on preventive suspension for 90 calendar days,” ayon sa Korte Suprema.
“In addition to the money, a copy of the order bearing the judge’s signature on the civil case was also confiscated,” dagdag pa ng korte.
Nahaharap sa kasong bribery ang dalawa at sumasailalim sa imbestigasyon ng Department of Justice.
