MORE than 5,000 job seekers were hired on the spot in job fairs held on Labor Day, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said a total of 2,500 employers participated in the job fairs conducted in over 90 sites across the country on May 1.
About 47,000 individuals registered for the job fair. “Out of that number, ang na-hire dun ay more than 5,000 hired on the spot. Various ‘yan. May kabataan, may senior din,” Laguesma said.
Among the top vacancies production workers and operators (22,372), customer service representatives (16,305), cashiers, baggers and sales clerks (13,670), laborers, carpenters, and painters (9,125), and service crews (5,971).
