RAIL operators in Metro Manila will offer free rides to selected commuter groups this holiday season.
The Department of Transportation announced Wednesday night that the “12 days of libreng sakay” on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 will run from December 14 to 25, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure safe and convenient travel during the holidays.
Free rides will be available to specific sectors on the following dates:
- Dec. 14: Senior citizens
- Dec. 15: Students
- Dec. 16: Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families
- Dec. 17: Teachers and health workers
- Dec. 18: Persons with disabilities and male passengers
- Dec. 19: Government employees
- Dec. 20: Female passengers
- Dec. 21: Families (no limit on number of members)
- Dec. 22: Solo parents and LGBTQIA+ members
- Dec. 23: Private sector employees and household workers
- Dec. 24: Uniformed personnel, veterans, and their families
All passengers will get free rides on December 25.
