Marcos vows stronger protection of workers’ rights, welfare on Labor Day

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday vowed to strengthen the protection and promotion of Filipino workers’ rights and welfare, recognizing their sacrifices and vital role in nation-building as the country marked Labor Day.

In his message, Marcos emphasized the government’s commitment to take concrete action to uplift workers’ lives, ensure workplace safety, and secure every Filipino family’s future.

“This celebration must be an opportunity to develop real solutions — to address every family’s needs, guarantee safety in our workplaces, and uphold every worker’s right to a better future,” the President said in Filipino.

He paid tribute to the labor force’s contributions to the country’s progress, saying that their daily efforts represent a powerful force for the common good.

“Every time a Filipino worker toils for his family, he also sacrifices for the greater benefit of the nation,” he said. “Work is not only a means of personal advancement but a noble contribution to the nation’s history.”

Marcos assured workers that the government is not a bystander in national development, but an “active partner” in building a more equitable and just society under his vision of a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines).

He also committed to continuing programs and policies aimed at improving workers’ welfare, recognizing that the country’s future depends on their well-being.

“We are steadfast in our commitment to support you — not just out of duty, but out of deep gratitude and recognition of your true worth and sacrifices,” Marcos said.

He concluded by reaffirming that government policies should reflect the belief that a nation’s real wealth lies not in profits, but in the dignity of those who labor tirelessly for a better life.
