Marcos urges Filipinos to embrace love, peace and happiness

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. expressed optimism on Wednesday that love and peace will prevail as Filipinos reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

In his Christmas message, Marcos highlighted the importance of the season, describing it as central to the core beliefs of the Filipino faithful. He said the celebration allows Filipinos to experience God’s presence intimately, evoking gratitude, kindness, and happiness for all.

“As Filipinos, take this highly anticipated chance to come home, reconnect with loved ones, and relish the blessings of the past year, I call on everyone to reflect on what is truly important: Living a life of meaning and purpose,” Marcos said.

He encouraged Filipinos to take this opportunity to reconnect with loved ones, reflect on life’s purpose, and appreciate the blessings of the past year.

“By doing so, may the bustle and spirit of Christmas make love and peace abound in every household and instill in us a deeper appreciation of the strength that comes from our relationship with Christ and each other,” he added.

Marcos enjoined everyone to help him realize his vision for a “Bagong Pilipinas” by “emulate[ing] the light that led the wise men to meet the infant in the manger so others may see and experience the hope that the Lord Almighty freely offers to us all.”

In a video message, Marcos, along with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and their sons, urged Filipinos to explore the country’s scenic tourist destinations during the holidays.

Senior House Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos encouraged visiting festive places, while his brother Simon recommended exploring the country’s beautiful churches. Vincent, the youngest, underscored the importance of spending Christmas with family and friends.

“Filipino Christmas is the happiest Christmas in the world,” President Marcos said. “Despite trials or challenges, we always find ways to celebrate—whether simple or grand. Christmas for Filipinos is about love, giving, and family.”

Marcos reminded everyone that the essence of the season is not about material extravagance but the deep connections and values shared with loved ones. “Wherever we are, Christmas for Filipinos remains a celebration of love and generosity,” he concluded.
