Marcos urges AFP generals to guard public funds

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to protect not only the nation but also public resources during a ceremony at Malacañang on Tuesday.

Speaking after the oath-taking of 37 newly promoted generals, the President highlighted the 2026 national budget, which includes funds for military modernization, base pay increases, and higher subsistence allowances.

“More than your role as the protector of our nation, you must also be among the faithful stewards who guard public resources,” he said.

Marcos stressed that the AFP is among the most trusted agencies to ensure that every peso is spent with integrity and contributes to the armed forces’ readiness and capability.

Among the officers sworn in was 2Lt. Rafael Cecilio Muñoz, a graduate of the United States Military Academy.
