PRESIDENT President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. marked Easter Sunday with a call for Filipinos to translate their faith into meaningful action, emphasizing compassion, solidarity, and inclusive governance in addressing the country’s challenges.
In his Easter message, Marcos described the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbol of hope and a directive to uplift those “buried in debt, in hunger, and in silence.”
“The triumph of Easter Sunday is not just a celebration filled with hope and aspiration for a better tomorrow, but also a testament to the victory of life over death, hope over despair, and light over darkness,” Marcos said in his official Easter Sunday message.
With around 80 percent of Filipinos identifying as Roman Catholic, Easter remains a deeply rooted religious and cultural observance in the Philippines.
Marcos urged the faithful to rise with Christ through public service, civic engagement, and deeds that reflect their faith.
“The stone has been rolled away. Let us not only believe but also act,” he added.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. also shared an Easter message, honoring the resilience of Filipinos and the sacrifice of uniformed personnel, saying their dedication mirrors the spirit of Easter: “sacrifice, resilience, and hope.”
